Government College Ajnala is situated on Indo-Pak border belt and rural backward area of Ajnala sub division, of Amritsar District. It was established in 1974 by S. Harcharan Singh Ajnala, then education minister of Punjab Government, for imparting quality education with rural folk in focus. It was founded with the sole objective of providing quality education to the desirous students hailing from this border belt at a very low cost. It is the only Government Co-educational institution situated at the Amritsar district which provides low cost education to the students and is affiliated to the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. It has enrolled 472 students in the current session. The college has proven to be a boon for the underprivileged community of this backward rural area who would have otherwise remained deprived of Higher Education due to their poor socio-economic background. The college offers BA, B.Com, BCA courses and Postgraduate diploma in computer applications. The students are groomed by training them in soft and hard skills under Punjab Finishing School scheme. College has dedicated staff who is relentlessly working to impart quality education and enhance overall personality development of the students.
